A wrong-way crash on I-694 in Oakdale killed two people and sent a three-year-old girl to Gillette Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries early Thursday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a Toyota Corolla was going the wrong way in the left lane on northbound Interstate 694 when it hit a northbound Pontiac Vibe just before 2:30 a.m.
The Pontiac's driver, a 32-year-old man from Rice, Minnesota, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. A 3-year-old girl from Rice inside the Pontiac suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Gillette Children's in St. Paul.
A Mercedes Benz Sprinter van, driven by 35-year-old Ibrahim Theophile of Buffalo, New York, was struck by the Pontiac after it was hit by the wrong-way car. The van's driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to Regions Hospital.
The driver in the wrong way vehicle, a 28-year-old man from St. Paul, had to be extricated and died at the scene.
Crews closed the roadway for several hours and it reopened just after 7 a.m. Thursday.
The Minnesota State Patrol has not identified any of the people involved.
