The University of Minnesota Board of Regents has approved a deal to rent its Mississippi River mansion, Eastcliff, to Governor Tim Walz and his family.
The governor and his family had to pack up and move out of the governor’s residence while it undergoes renovations. They will now move into the Eastcliff mansion, instead of the Sunfish Lake home they were initially set to rent for $17,000 a month.
The cost of the Walz family’s relocation will save the government a pretty penny, as the cost will be roughly $66,000, as opposed to the Sunfish Lake home, which would have cost around $330,000.
University President Joan Gabel will be moving out of Eastcliff soon after announcing she’s leaving to take a new job as Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh.
