A settlement conference is scheduled today for State Senator Nicole Mitchell as she faces burglary charges.
Mitchell is charged with first-degree burglary for breaking into her stepmother's home in April.
The meeting comes amid renewed calls for Mitchell to resign from her position.. as lawmakers prepare to share custody over the Minnesota House with democrats holding a one-vote edge in the Senate.
If the two sides come to an agreement, they get submit it to a judge for approval.
If the case does not settle, it will proceed to a hearing and a possible trial that could coincide with the early days of the legislative session.
