A family vacation came to a tragic end for a Minnesota family.
The body of a teen who went missing while swimming in Lake Michigan earlier this week has been found.
Authorities say the 17-year old boy had been swimming on Tuesday while on vacation with his family when he went under the water near Beverly Shores, Indiana, near Indiana Dunes.
Beverly Shores Fire Chief Andy Himan says too many people underestimate how dangerous Lake Michigan can be.
"People seem to think it's a body of water, it's like a swimming pool," Himan said. It's not. Not even close. This lake can change in a matter of minutes."
Search crews were forced to battled high waves during the search. The boy, who was from Eagan, Minnesota, has not yet been identified.
After the boy went missing, witnesses tried to help look but high wind and waves made conditions so dangerous, one of them ended up in the hospital according to ABC Chicago.
