Dr. Michael Osterholm along with the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundation announced a new fund on Monday geared towards the families who have lost a healthcare worker to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Osterholm, a member of President-elect Joe Biden's Coronavirus Advisory Board, debuted the Frontline Families Fund on CBS This Morning.
Osterholm later joined WCCO Radio's Dave Lee during the WCCO Morning News.
"We need to take care of these families," Osterholm said. "We can't change what's happened. They have experienced great tragedy, but we can be there for them now. We're hopeful that we'll all get together and support these healthcare workers and their families."
According to the Frontline Families Fund, over 1,400 healthcare workers in the United States have lost their lives because from COVID-19.
The fund will provide financial assistance through grants and provide educational scholarships for children.
