Pastor Jenny Sung of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi was distributing resources to residents in Brooklyn Center apartment buildings, that were caught in the zone of civil unrest, when a fight broke out between residents and a reporter.
Sung was in the middle of talking with WCCO’s Brandon Ison about a GoFundMe campaign for the residents she was helping when the fight started.
While she was talking with Ison, her tone quickly changed as she attempted to break up the fight that was going on urging residents to stop, while continuing to hand out supplies to those who were in need. As if nothing had happened, Snug switched back to talking with Ison about the work that St. Andrews was doing in the community.
“Continue to give to the GoFundMe, we’ve been able to get meals and housing for people,” Sung said.
The funds collected through the GoFundMe are being given straight back to the community and those in need. Money that is collected is being used to supply resources that families need and is being sent to families via Venmo so they can collect supplies they need that they want to keep private.
