On Friday afternoon the family of Ricky Cobb II held a press conference Friday demanding action and answers.

The family was joined by civil rights attorneys Bakari Sellers and Harry Daniels as well as F. Clayton Tyler.

Cobb was shot and killed by a Minnesota State Trooper earlier this month. Cobb was pulled over for not having his rear lights, and it's believed trooper Ryan Londregan was the one who fired his gun.

“I am sick and tired of doing these cases around the country,” says Sellers. Ricky Cobb should be here today.”

Family members say that all the available video shows that at no point was Cobb seen holding a firearm. Investigators have said that one was located in the back of the vehicle following the shooting, but it's not clear to whom it belonged.

“I have to accept this, process this still, and get justice for my son, period,” says Cobb’s mother. "To lose a son at such a young age sickens me and saddens me."

“Let’s let justice prevail so I can lay my son to rest,” Cobb’s Father added.

The attorneys for the family say that the believe Cobb’s Civil Rights were violated and they say they will likely file a lawsuit.

“We’re going to let those investigations play out,” Sellers said Friday. “But we’re pretty certain as we stand here before you that Ricky’s Civil Rights were violated. We’re going to give the State of Minnesota an opportunity to do right and be transparent. To show not just this family, but all the citizens of this great state their findings, their methods, their methodology, whereby they came to their conclusions.”

Last week, Cobb's family met with Governor Tim Walz. The family called it a very important meeting.

Attorneys said they will get to the bottom of why Cobb was shot. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation. Three troopers have been put on administrative leave.
