Escalating gas prices over the past week are prompting drivers to cut back in other areas.
That's according to AAA Minnesota's Brynna Knapp, who says it's tough to keep a summer loving Minnesotan off the road.
"People still did travel, but that maybe they chose to go a couple days less than normal, or maybe they swapped out an event with eating at home," Knapp explains. "So, they're making little swaps and changes to help mitigate that increase in costs in fuel prices."
It remains to be seen if our escalating gas prices will come down as demand decreases in the next few weeks, with families squeezing in one more road trip or vacation before the end of summer. Knapp says that's usually what happens just before kids head back to school.
However, she says this year has been a bit of an outlier.
"But knowing with all of the global events occurring that there still might be an uptick in price or certainly staying at a similar place to where we're at," she explains.
Knapp says gas prices have risen at least 15 cents per gallon over the past week due to more than a few global events, including the uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran.
