Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty is responding to complaints against her made by Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges in a recent news story.

Moriarty tells the WCCO Morning News about why she reached out to Bloomington officials about Hodges in the first place.

"I think Chief Hodges forgot to mention to KSTP that our staff flagged a particular body cam incident that involved one of his officers who made some really derogatory comments about our staff," Moriarty explains.

Moriarty says she didn't hear back after reaching out to Hodges about those comments that were made to paramedics as well as a woman who was overdosing at the time.

"Yet he clearly knew about the situation, never did respond to our concerns, and the first we heard a response from him was actually when he went to the news," she adds.

Moriarty tells WCCO Radio's Vineeta Sawkar she reached out to him first to discuss body camera video showing one of his officers saying disparaging things about her office and employees.

In the KSTP-TV story Moriarty references, Hodges and Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green also both told KSTP that Moriarty complained to their bosses about their behavior and expressed concern about Hodges' unconventional news conferences. He often uses props and humor to describe arrests.
