Over the weekend, the two musical legends, Jimmy “Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, celebrating their long careers in music.

To discuss the induction, the celebration, and the honor of doing it all with his close friend, Harris joined News Talk 830 WCCO’s Chad Hartman.

“The whole week was actually amazing,” Jimmy Jam said.

After a career that has included 41 top hits in the US and 31 in the UK, Jimmy Jam shared that the weekend felt like his feet weren’t touching the ground.

“It really felt like I was floating through it,” he said. “To have people who you’ve grown up listening to or have them talk to you about how you’ve inspired their music and all be in the same room was amazing.”

The duo was inducted into the hall of fame by fellow-legend Janet Jackson, who recreated a look from earlier in all three’s careers, giving a nod to their decades of work in the music industry.

While many would have speeches prepared for an honor like this, Jimmy Jam shared that he and Lewis wanted to speak from their hearts, opting not to put anything on the teleprompter.

“It’s the most that Terry Lewis has ever talked in his life,” Jimmy Jam said, adding that he “loved every bit of it.”

While the two have always been together throughout their careers, they will now be together in history, too, as members of the hall of fame.
