One person died Friday morning after a shooting that involved Robbinsdale Police.
Initial reports indicate that the man was shot near N. 38th and Noble avenues after brandishing a knife following a chase with police.
According to police, the man had an active felony out for his arrest. When officers blocked the man's vehicle in with their patrol cars, the man exited the vehicle with a knife. Police told the man repeatedly to drop the knife, but he did not. Officers then tried to taser the man, who then charged at them. That's when an officer shot the man, who died at the scene.
The Minnesota BCA is investigating and said they recovered a knife at the scene. They added that there is body camera footage from the officers.
This story is developing an will be updated as more information is released.
The shooting comes after Minneapolis Police last week released body camera footage from a December 31 shooting that left 23-year-old Dolal Idd dead after police stopped Idd's car as part of a “probable cause weapons investigation."
Video from the incident appears to show Idd fired at MPD before officers returned fire.
