A 31-year old Twin Cities man has been found guilty of murder outside the visitation for another man who was the victim of gun violence.

Prosecutors say Kevin Mason shot Dontevius Catchings outside Shiloh Temple in north Minneapolis in June of 2021.

Inside Shiloh, people were paying their respects to a man who was shot and killed in front of a downtown nightclub days earlier.

Mason was arrested in Indianapolis in 2023, but was mistakenly released. He was found in South St. Paul about two weeks later and taken into custody.

Mason, found guilty of second degree unintentional murder and illegal firearm possession, will be sentenced next month.
