A Roseville man charged in connection with $90 million in alleged Medicaid fraud has been deemed a flight risk and has been ordered by a judge to remain in custody.
32-year old Muhammad Omar was called out by federal officials last week when charges were announced against 15 people.
He was captured on video limping after jumping from a fourth-story balcony to avoid arrest.
Federal prosecutors argued if he attempted to flee once, he could do it again. Omar appeared in court in a wheelchair due to a broken leg.
Last week, several top U.S. officials were in Minneapolis announcing a “major law enforcement action involving fraud” in the state.
"Today, we are announcing criminal charges against 15 defendants in Minnesota for fraud schemes that targeted over $90 million in taxpayer dollars," said Colin McDonald who is with the U.S Justice Department.
