Minneapolis school teachers have authorized a strike vote.
Union leaders say after 18 hours of negotiations failed to produce tentative agreements , both the teachers and education support professionals have decided to vote on whether to strike.
They say the district did not improve its salary offer since the two sides negotiated on April 4. The vote will take place this Thursday and Friday, with the results to be announced on Saturday.
School district officials say they are facing a budget deficit of at least $110 million and that to use additional funds to settle contracts would result in further budget cuts.
