While Minnesota students and families trade snow for sand and ice for ocean waves during the spring, Explore Minnesota says there are plenty of spring break ideas in the Land of 10,000 Lakes that could save you a few dollars.

"We're a great spring time destination whether you're road tripping or flying here," said Jake Juliot with Explore Minnesota. "We're definitely a great destination from spring time travel because of our great indoor and outdoor recreation activities."

Whether it's the Mall of America, Paisley Park, or the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, or the Munsinger Gardens and Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Juliot says many times people forget to look in their own backyard for spring travel destinations.

"A lot of people don't really realize how many great attractions and great outdoor recreation and indoor attractions that we have in Minnesota," added Juliot. "I think a lot of people are comfortable with the bubble where they live. Getting outside of that and exploring the state is so much fun because there are so many great things to explore."

Explore Minnesota says travel statewide does increase during the spring, especially as many opt to save money by skipping out on expensive flights to destinations where hotels and attractions add to their bill.

"Minnesota has a lot to offer because we are not as expensive as other destinations for traveling to, especially if you're already in the Midwest and doing a road trip. We've seen in the past when things have gotten expensive, a lot of people result to road trips instead of flying. We're a great road trip destination."
