It was put on the fast track at the Legislature and passed just in time.

Lawmakers have unanimously voted to repeal the March 31st Cesar Chavez Day in Minnesota.

Governor Tim Walz (DFL) says he will sign it, after saying the legislature needed to move on it quickly following an investigation showing the Latino civil rights leader sexually abused girls.

The bill was introduced earlier this week.

A local charter school is also changing its name, and plans are in the works to change a street name on St. Paul's west side.

Other states are also considering removing their Cesar Chavez Days from state law.

California lawmakers voted Thursday to rename César Chavez Day as Farmworkers Day in an effort to reconcile the Latino labor icon’s legacy with explosive sexual abuse allegations before the state holiday on March 31.

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is expected to quickly sign the bill.
