A new tool launched Thursday by Governor Tim Walz called the "Minnesota COVID-19 Vaccine Connector" will help all Minnesotans find out when, where, and how to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
The Vaccine Connector, open to all Minnesotans and available here, asks individuals to provide basic information such as contact information, demographic data, medical history, and employment to determine their eligibility based on state guidelines.
Governor Tim Walz told WCCO Radio's Dave Lee on Thursday that the Vaccine Connector will look to simplify things for people waiting to get their vaccine.
"Quite honestly, people just want to know where they're going to get their vaccine and when," Walz said. "We're getting a lot more clarity as we get kind of consistency in the doses that we are getting from the federal government."
In the announcement Thursday, Walz wrote about a "frustratingly limited vaccine supple from the federal government" and the importance of ensuring Minnesotans that their vaccine time is coming.
“We need to make it as easy as possible for every Minnesotan to get the vaccine when it’s their turn – no matter where they live and no matter their personal circumstances. The options we’re providing will help make that happen," Walz wrote.
After filling out the information, the Vaccine Connector will alert individuals when they become eligible to receive a vaccine under state guidelines. Additionally, the Vaccine Connector will connect eligible individuals to resources to schedule an appointment, and notify them if there are vaccination opportunities in their area.
Minnesotans unable to sign up online can call 833-431-2053 for assistance signing up over the phone.
Minnesota is currently vaccinating health care workers, long-term care residents, pre-kindergarten through grade 12 educators, childcare workers and people age 65 and over.
