Officials with the state's health insurance marketplace, MNSure say thousands of Minnesotans may not be able to afford their health care premiums if Congress doesn't renew federal tax credits.
It's one of the issues at the center of the federal government shutdown, and comes as the the Minnesota Department of Commerce says average premiums on the individual health care market will increase roughly 22-percent next year.
MNSure CEO Libby Caulum says nearly 90-thousand Minnesotans will be impacted unless Congress acts soon
" These folks are entrepreneurs, small business owners, farmers, gig workers" says Caulum, "anyone who doesn't get their health insurance through their employer."
Caulum says the tax credits have supported record enrollments through MNsure and a historic uninsured rate in Minnesota.
