In this corner, the Police! In that corner, Fire! Ladies and gentlemen get ready for a battle, but this one's a little different.
Saturday night, the Battle of the Badges takes place at The Myth involving first responders from all over the state who will slip on the gloves for charity.
There will be 11 bouts, two women's fights and nine men's. It's a great event with all proceeds going to charity.
"We're doing it for the YWCA of St. Paul, all the proceeds are going to kids programs empowering women and eliminating racism," says Hennepin County Sheriff's Deputy Lauren Gizzy. "And a huge focus is to give back to the community and bring awareness to the health and wellness of first responders."
Gizzy will be taking part in the event and will square off against an EMT from North Memorial in the "Police vs. Fire" boxing matches.
There will also be a donation box for Jamal Mitchell, the Minneapolis Police Officer killed in the line of duty May 30th.
Gizzy, took part in last year's event titled "Guns and Hoses" and said it's a thrill be able to take part.
"I think the excitement, honestly took over for the stress and anxiety of actually fighting," she says. I think I was just so excited and so happy to be there and be a part of it. It was a great organization and it was great to have all these first responders and people in that type of setting together. It was really cool to see."
Doors open at 6:00 and the fights start at 7:00 at The Myth in Maplewood.
