Prince would have been 67-years old on June 7 had he not died of an accidental overdose, April 21, 2016.

His first wife, Mayte Garcia, told the WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar he didn't like celebrating his birthday. They were married in 1996 and divorced in 2000 - but together they formed a non-profit, "Live 4 Love."

"The handprint on the logo was our sons. So it's, you know, it's very, very emotional and, dear to my heart, to our hearts," Garcia explains.

She is a dancer  and is going to hold a dance class and party this weekend to mark the day Prince was born.

"I can get anybody with two left feet to dance," Garcia says. "I think people have it in their mind that they don't dance, but if you walk, you dance."

The Live 4 Dance Workshop will be at Roy Wilkins Dance Studios on June 7-8. It's for boys and girls ages 13-18 of all skill levels.

Garcia says she'll teach one and all some cool moves and adding that it happening around his birthday is a special time.

"It's emotional, but it also - it makes me so proud to know that there's so much love for him," Garcia adds.

The two-day experience runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and it's free to attend. You can find more information here and register for the event here. Lunch and beverages will be provided both days—and all participants will receive special gifts as a thank-you for being part of the experience.

It's not the only thing happening in Prince's hometown over the next week.

The Minnesota Twins are honoring the legend on Tuesday, June 10. They're promising a night full of the iconic artists’ legacy with lucky fans who already purchased tickets receiving a co-branded Prince/Twins reversible jersey.

Also, Prince Celebration is back at Paisley Park and across Downtown Minneapolis June 5-8. They'll have live music all across the weekend at both his legendary home and studio, Paisley Park, plus other venues like First Avenue (where Purple Rain was recorded and portions of the movie were shot), the Lofton Hotel, and outside near the Prince Mural in downtown Minneapolis near 1st Ave. and 9th St.

Ticket packages for the Prince Celebration are available here.
