Minnesota Fifth District Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) has been arrested during a protest on abortion rights in Washington D.C. Tuesday. She confirms the arrest in a Tuesday afternoon tweet.

There is no confirmation yet from Omar's office, but the source did say they're expecting to make a statement Tuesday afternoon.

CBS News is now reporting up to 16 members of Congress were part of the group that was arrested. Video posted to the Instagram page of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) shows her being led away by police. The protest took place outside the Supreme Court according to U.S. Capitol Police. They say 34 people were arrested for, "Crowding, Obstructing or Incommoding."

Omar had been critical of the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She had issued a statement after that decision saying she is grateful for Minnesota's protection of abortion rights and believes the passage of the Women's Health Act by the Senate is their "moral responsibility."

This is a developing story. Stay with WCCO Radio and wccoradio.com for further updates. (Ed. Note: A previous version stated Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was led away in handcuffs which was incorrect. She only was holding her hands behind her back)
