Multiple reports coming in that two people were shot to death in car in North Minneapolis Thursday afternoon.
It happened on the 2000 block of Sheridan Avenue North, not far from where a 15-year old boy was shot Wednesday. No word yet on the identity of the victims and no arrests have been announced.
On today's Chad Hartman Show which was hosted by Jason DeRusha, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said there's no doubt the city is in a difficult and challenging spot right now.
“We don’t need another report or someone’s description as a hell hole to know that we need to improve on items like safety when crime is going on,” Frey told DeRusha.
When pressed by DeRusha about what we need to do, Frey was noncommittal.
“There are a hundred things we could do and we could have an hour long interview on the different facets.”
Frey says police reform measures already underway and hiring a new Police Chief are top priorities right now. He also says the new so-called "strong mayor" government structure will allow new policies to be enacted more easily.
Frey says there's no quick, easy fix, but says Minneapolis is "strong, resilient, and is going to come back."
