A Hennepin County Judge has sentenced a second person convicted in a deadly shooting at the Mall of America nearly two years ago.

Lavon Longstreet was sentenced to 30 years in prison for his role in the 2022 fatal shooting of Johntae Hudson. Longstreet, who was 17 at the time, and his co-defendant Tae Shawn Adams-Wright, shot and killed Hudson inside the Nordstrom at Mall of America.

Tae Shawn Adams-Wright is already serving a 30-year prison sentence for his role in the shooting.

Following the shooting, the Mall of America added some additional security measures -both visible and non-visible.

In a statement, mall officials said the enhanced security includes random bag checks at entrances, onsite Bloomington police officers, and an extensive system of cameras.
