Shooting leaves 1 dead in North Minneapolis

One person is dead following a shooting early Wednesday morning in north Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder reports that shots rang out at 12:48 a.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Bryant Avenue North. Officers found the shooting victim, an adult male, lying in an alley. The man was taken to North Memorial Hospital and later died.


Police located an individual near the scene and detained them after evidence linked them as a person of interest in the shooting.

No formal charges have been announced. This marks the 61st homicide of the year in Minneapolis.
