Its official, the Twin Cities will host the 2022 Major League Soccer All-Star Game.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber made the announcement at Allianz Field Tuesday.
“There’s nothing like what you can see when you watch a game here at Allianz,” Garber said. “When I watch them on television or when I’ve attended events, this is what Major League Soccer was intended to be.”

Garber calls Allianz Field a "spectacular stadium". The All-Star game will be August 10, 2022 with a week's-worth of events, community service projects, and concerts across the Twin Cities as part of the action.
“The important thing here is, while we made a commitment to bring the all-star game here, it’s everything that this team is. It’s everything it represents. It’s everything that it feels like in the community that has Minnesota United earning the all-star game and the great announcement that we have here toay.”
The MLS All-Star game joins the list of big professional sports events in recent memory for the Twin Cities. This coming January, Target Field will host the NHL’s “Winter Classic” where the Wild will take on St. Louis in the chilly Minnesota outdoors.
The Twins hosted the 2014 MLB All-Star game, U.S. Bank Stadium was the host of the Super Bowl in February, 2018, and the Lynx hosted the WNBA Showcase in 2018.
