Three misdemeanor counts of of drunk driving are now filed against a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The charges were filed on Friday.

It was early last Saturday morning when Representative Matt Grossell of Clearbrook was pullled over while driving a Chevy truck in Clearwater County in northern Minnesota.

Police reported that Grossell's blood alcohol level was 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit for driving in Minnesota.

This comes four years after Grossell was charged with disorderly conduct for supposedly causing a ruckus at a hotel bar.

Grossell was not convicted and agreed to enter a court diversion program.

That incident prompted House leadership to remove Grossell from the Public Safety and Judiciary committees, and he rejoined those panels after re-election in 2020.

There is no comment from the Republican lawmaker.

Grossell is a retired Clearwater County sheriff's deputy, and former police chief of Blackduck.

He was in St. Paul this past week to take part in legislative activity, and his arraignment is scheduled for next month.
