Classes are expected to resume Wednesday morning at Apple Valley High School, Eastview High School, and Rosemount High School after a 16-year-old male was arrested Tuesday for posting a series of threats online that referenced possible harm at the schools.

The teen was arrested Tuesday following a search warrant in Eagan. Apple Valley police said on social media that no weapons were located during the course of the search warrant.

Police were notified Monday night about the potential social media threats and "multiple concerning messages posted online that referenced possible harm directed at several high schools within Independent School District 196."

On Tuesday morning, as some students were already at schools, ISD 196 announced several schools would be closed as police continued their investigation.

The teen who was arrested was transported to the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center, with formal charges expected to be filed through the Dakota County Attorney's Office.

Online threats also closed Burnsville High School and Burnsville Alternative High School. It's unclear if the incidents are related.
