Law enforcement from across the state are sending condolences to the Red Lake Nation tribal police department after an officer was shot and killed in the line of duty.
FBI Minneapolis spokesperson Kevin Smith says it happened Tuesday morning while police were responding to a call at a home on the reservation.
"(Officers) got to the location, and something occurred where the subject shot and fired at the officers, and one officer was killed."
The FBI says the suspect was taken into custody.
The Red Lake Reservation is located in northwest Minnesota.
