The president was just in Minnesota on Wednesday, first at a private fundraiser in Shorewood then at a large rally in Duluth.
Trump tweeted around midnight central time that he and the First Lady had contracted the coronavirus.
This came after it was revealed that one of Trump's top aides, Hope Hicks, began feeling ill flying back from Minnesota to Washington and later tested positive.
It's unclear what precautions, if any, were taken at the fundraiser at the home of Twin Cities businessman Marty Davis, the CEO of Cambria.
Trump was there for about an hour.
When he arrived in Minnesota the president was greeted on the tarmac at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport by several prominent state Republican politicians.
Greeting Trump at MSP were Senate leader Paul Gazelka, House minority leader Kurt Daudt, and US Senate candidate Jason Lewis.
"My wife and I were in close contact with the president," Gazelka told Dave Lee on the WCCO Morning News, adding that he and his wife will get tested and quarantine for 14 days, which follows CDC guidelines.
"I fully believe that we will be fine whether we have the virus or not," Gazelka said.
Also having possible contact with the president were Congressmen Tom Emmer, Jim Hagedorn and Pete Stauber, who all flew to Minnesota and back to Washington with Trump aboard Air Force One.
