One man is dead and there are no arrests in a late-night shooting in St. Paul.

Investigators are working two crime scenes less than two miles apart.

After an abandoned car was found on the 1300 block of Wilson Avenue, police stopped a car driving erratically on Minnehaha Ave. East.

Both cars appeared to have been involved in a crash, according to St. Paul police sergeant Mike Ernster.

"The vehicle that was located on Minnehaha did have the gunshot victim in it, also had damage consistent with being in a crash," he said. "How that occurred and how both vehicles were damaged is still under investigation."

The victim died at the scene on Minnehaha Avenue, and the two others in that car are talking with investigators.

This is the fourth reported homicide of the year in Saint Paul, three fewer than this time a year ago.
