Wisconsin Republican lawmakers want to make it a law that the national anthem is played before sporting events.

The Star Spangled Banner Act would require that the anthem is played before Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks games, or any sporting event held at a venue that has been at least partially funded by public money.

According to The Hill, Wisconsin Senator Patrick Testin (R) says that “hearing the Star Spangled Banner at a sporting event reminds us that despite our differences, we have something in common. We are Americans.”
