Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was forced to exit the team’s game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon after suffering a non-contact injury.
According to a report from ESPN, Cousins suffered a tear to his achilles. An MRI is scheduled to confirm the injury.
Cousins, who had strung together a two-touchdown lead late in the fourth quarter, appeared to suffer the injury, having to hop off the field before being taken to the team’s medical tent.
Shortly after an evaluation from team doctors, Cousins, who was still unable to put weight on his ankle, was ruled out for the remainder of the game and taken to the locker room.
"Whatever is the case, if we don't have him for one snap or for the duration of our season, that will not change the level he played this year, and ultimately what he has meant to me and our organization," said Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell after the game.
Cousins will have an MRI on Monday.
Rookie Jaren Hall came in after Cousins was hurt and completed three of four passes.
The Vikings are expected to sign a quarterback as soon as possible.
They play at Atlanta on Sunday after improving to 4-4 win their win over Green Bay.
