Livonia Public Schools warn parents of new TikTok challenge promoting assault, vandalism

LIVONIA (WWJ) -- Some Livonia families are being warned about a new TikTok challenge that could get their kids into serious trouble.

A letter sent to Stevenson High School parents on Friday morning says the latest social media challenge encourages students to film their classmates in bathrooms inappropriately exposing themselves, and sexually assaulting other students and staff members.

It also promotes acts of vandalism both inside and outside of school, and for students to "Grab Some Eggz" -- or steal.

The letter says while TikTok can be fun, vandalism and other inappropriate actions could also lead to criminal charges against students.

“You may have heard about this earlier in the school year when students were challenging each other (devious licks) to vandalize bathrooms by removing paper towel holders, soap dispensers, and toilet seats,” school officials wrote. “Recently, we obtained information regarding upcoming ‘TikTok Challenges.’ To be clear, many of these challenges are not school appropriate and will result in school consequences. Perhaps, even in criminal charges.”

The latest TikTok challenge appears to be part of a larger list of challenges for each month of the school year, with October's being to "slap a staff member."

Livonia Public Schools administrators are asking parents to talk with their children about social media, and only using it in a positive manner.
