As storms pummeled Mississippi this week, one man in the state thought the world might actually be ending as he saw water surging through his backyard and the pool located there.
“Thought the world was ending for a second,” Facebook user Drew Price of Kokomo, Miss., captioned video he caught of the downpour. Flowing next to the pool was a stream of rainwater and droplets loudly pummeled the yard.
The National Weather Service shared the video, which Price posted Friday.
Price confirmed to Audacy that the footage depicted his backyard. He said that “everyone is okay,” and there was “just damage to the roof of the house and vehicles.”
Kokomo is around 12 miles outside of Columbia, Miss. Earlier in the week, around 3,000 Entergy customers in the state lost power due to storms, WJTV reported.
As of Saturday, the National Weather Service office in Jackson, Miss., predicted more severe storms in the state, “with the greater chances from late morning into the evening.” These storms could produce damaging winds and quarter to golf ball sized hail, as well as a tornado said the service.
Last month, a record number of tornadoes was recorded in the U.S. and many occurred in the Southeast, according to The Washington Post. At least nine people in the U.S. have been killed by tornados so far this year in the U.S., the outlet reported.
One of the tornados was a twister that touched down in New Orleans late last month.
People in communities throughout Mississippi are advised to take shelter.
