A 25-year-old woman from Texas is suing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, alleging that the billionaire is her biological father.
Alexandra Davis said in a lawsuit that was filed in Dallas County and obtained by the Dallas Morning News that she was conceived from a relationship between her mother, Cynthia Davis, and Jones in the mid-1990s.
Jones and her mother reached a financial settlement that he would support them on one main condition: that Jones wouldn't be publicly identified as her father, according to court documents.
Cynthia Davis and Jones reportedly met while she was working as a a ticket counter agent for American Airlines in Little Rock, Arkansas. Court documents said that Davis and her husband were estranged at the time, and that Jones "pursued" a relationship with her.
However, Jones and his wife, Gene, have been married since 1963 and have three children together, according to CBS News.
Alexandra Davis was born on Dec. 16, 1996, and her mother filed for divorce from her husband soon after. Genetic testing was then done during the divorce process and determined that she was not the daughter of Cynthia Davis' husband.
Jones reportedly had hired his friend, lawyer Donald Jack, to help Davis pay $27,000 for divorce proceedings, and an additional $30,000 in negotiations. Jones and Davis eventually reached a settlement on Aug. 14, 1998 with a lump sum of $375,000 to be paid to Davis, per court documents.
As part of the deal, Alexandra Davis was scheduled to receive "certain monthly, annual and special funding" until she was 21-years-old, and then additional lump sum payments when she turned 24, 26, and 28.
She also said in the lawsuit that Jones has done everything he can to "shun" her and "coerce her from ever disclosing his identity."
Alexandra Davis grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, per court documents. The lawsuit said that Jones and her mother have been in some type of contact, but she has never met her alleged biological father.
The Dallas Morning News said that, "The only time she has disclosed her father’s identity was when she had to obtain security clearance from the FBI to work in the White House for President Donald Trump, the lawsuit said. She currently works for U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson, an Amarillo Republican, according to her LinkedIn profile."
There is no clear reason why Davis is suing Jones now, although, the newspaper reported that her mother's health concerns were mentioned in the lawsuit.
It was also noted that Alexandra and Cynthia Davis both starred in the reality show Big Rich Texas, that followed the lives of five wealthy women and their daughters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Dallas Morning News added that at the time, Cynthia Davis was living off a trust fund.
