Burnsville police shot and killed a man who they saw was driving a car with stolen tags and fired at the officers while being chased Sunday afternoon.
It all ended on Highway 13 near 35W with MnDOT cameras recording the suspect firing at officers after crashing the car in the median.
The suspect crashed the vehicle, then ran into a nearby restauarant, grabbing car keys from a woman and took her vehicle.
The suspect, a white man in his 20's, was taken to HCMC where he was pronounced dead.
"Those cops had no choice but to shoot him," said the woman in the restaurant. "They had no choice, he was shooting out of my car. I almost got shot."
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
Officials say police body cams were activated.
A handful of protestors arrived at the scene not long after it ended but soon left after getting details on what exactly happened.
