Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For the first time since the 2020 season, the Buffalo Bills will play for a chance to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl in the AFC Championship Game next weekend.
It was a close battle on Sunday night in the AFC Divisional Round, as the Bills managed to hold off a late Baltimore Ravens push in a 27-25 victory at Highmark Stadium.
It was a fast start for the Bills this time around against the Ravens, as Buffalo got out to a 21-10 lead at halftime. Josh Allen was able to find the end zone twice on the ground in the first half, while rookie Ray Davis managed to rush in for the other first half score,
As for the defense, they managed to maintain that "bend, but don't break" mantra from start-to-finish, limiting both Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson from breaking loose and taking command of the game.
In the end, the defense managed to hold Baltimore at bay, as the Ravens failed to convert a two-point conversion attempt with 1:33 to go to tie the score.
As for Allen, he finished his day with efficiency, completing 16-of-22 pass attempts for just 127 yards in the air. He added just 20 yards on the ground, but did manage to find the end zone twice with his legs.
Allen understood what kind of challenge the Ravens were going to bring to the table, and credits the level of pride within the Buffalo locker room to advance to his second AFC Championship Game.
"We're excited. A lot of pride in that locker room," said Allen following Sunday's win. "We don't listen to the outside noise, but everyone was saying this and that about us. We didn't have enough talent, we weren't good enough to be in these positions. Our guys just continue to work hard, and we're internally driven. We love each other, and I think you saw how much we played for each other there."
