Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - One day after the 53-man roster was set by the Buffalo Bills, linebacker Terrel Bernard, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, and offensive lineman Connor McGovern all returned to practice on the fields just outside the ADPRO Sports Training Center.

LISTEN LIVE TO WGR:

McGovern was injured last week during practice and did not suit up for the team's preseason finale against the Chicago Bears. Shakir missed the final two preseason games, while Bernard has not fully practiced since injuring his hamstring back on Aug. 10, the final day of training camp at St. John Fisher University.

Bernard is still expected to battle for the starting middle linebacker spot.

"I feel pretty good," Bernard told reporters after practice on Wednesday. "Obviously the hamstring has been bothering me for a little while, but I've been doing rehab every day and getting a point where I feel good now."

Linebacker Baylon Spector and wide receiver Justin Shorter were both absent from Wednesday's practice. They are expected to be placed on Injured Reserve, opening up two roster spots but making them ineligible to play the first four games of the season.

One of those spots will go back to long snapper Reid Ferguson, who was released as part of the initial 53-man cut down in order for both Spector and Shorter to make the team before being placed on I.R.

It was also reported on Wednesday the Bills are expected sign veteran offensive lineman Germain Ifedi, which will bring the roster back to 53.
