Bills bringing back wide receiver Gabe Davis to practice squad

Davis reeled in 163 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Bills from 2020-23

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - A reunion is coming between the Buffalo Bills and wide receiver Gabe Davis.

As confirmed by Bills head coach Sean McDermott on Wednesday, the team set to bring back Davis to the team's practice squad, with the goal of ramping up his recovery from a torn meniscus last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will be designated on the practice squad/injured list, meaning the Bills do not have to create a spot for him yet on the 16-man roster.

The signing was first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Davis was drafted by the Bills as a fourth-round pick (128th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his four seasons played in Buffalo, Davis appeared in 64 games for the Bills, reeling in 163 passes for 2,730 yards and 27 touchdowns.

In seven playoff games with the Bills, Davis caught 22 passes for 474 yards and another six touchdowns. This includes his infamous four-touchdown performance in the 2021 AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he put up eight passes for 201 yards.

The best regular season Davis had with the Bills came in his final year with the team in 2023, where he totaled 48 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis tested the free agent market in the spring of 2024, and ended up signing a three-year, $39 million deal with the Jaguars. However, things never panned out for Davis as intended, as he only played 10 games, totaling just 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Davis was released by the Jaguars in May, and had prior visits with the Bills, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers.
