Bills, Christian Benford agree to four-year contract extension

Benford is now under contract through the 2029 season

West Palm Beach, Fla. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - A day before the NFL's annual league meetings begin in the Sunshine State, the Buffalo Bills secured another one of their bright, young stars.

As first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bills and cornerback Christian Benford agreed to terms on a new four-year contract extension worth a reported $76 million. That will keep Benford in a Bills uniform through the 2029 season.

The 24-year-old is the sixth Bills player to sign a multi-year extension this offseason, joining quarterback Josh Allen, long snapper Reid Ferguson, defensive end Greg Rousseau, linebacker Terrel Bernard, and wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

Rousseau, Bernard and Shakir were all entering the final year of their rookie contracts. Benford, a 2022 sixth-round pick out of Villanova, was also set to enter the final year of his deal, but will now be locked up for another five seasons.

Running back James Cook is also entering the final year of his contract.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane is scheduled to meet with the local Buffalo media late Sunday afternoon while at the annual league meetings.
