Bills release punter Sam Martin

Martin spent the last three seasons punting for the Bills, averaging 46.7 yards per-kick

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills could be in the market for a new punter this offseason.

The team announced on Thursday it has released veteran punter Sam Martin after three seasons with the organization.

In his 50 games with the Bills, Martin booted the ball a total of 150 times, averaging 46.7 yards per-punt, with 65 of his punts landing inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

According to Spotrac, the release of Martin frees up $2 million of cap space for the Bills, who are actively working to get compliant with their Top-51 contracts on the roster before the start of the new league year next week.

Martin just completed his 12th season in the NFL after beginning his career with the Detroit Lions for seven years, followed by a pair of seasons with the Denver Broncos.

The Bills only have one other punter currently under contract for the 2025 season after signing Jake Camarda to a reserve/future contract this January.
