Bills sign offensive tackle Brandon Shell to one-year contract

To make room on the roster, the team has released defensive tackle Brandin Bryant

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills are adding another piece to the offensive line with the signing of tackle Brandon Shell on Thursday to a one-year contract.

To make room on the 90-man roster, the Bills have released defensive tackle Brandin Bryant.

Drafted in the fifth round (158th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft out of the University of South Carolina, Shell has dressed for 83 games over seven seasons with the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins.

The 31-year-old signed joined the Dolphins' practice squad last season before being signed to the active roster, where he started 11 games.

Shell allowed just two sacks in his time in Miami, but also allowed a career-high 40 pressures.

The addition of Shell could signal some added competition to the right tackle spot with Spencer Brown.

Shell is also the great nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame tackle Art Shell.
