Bills sign wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr.

The five-year pro spent last season with the Seahawks and Chargers

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills add some more depth and speed to their wide receivers room with the signing of Laviska Shenault Jr. on a one-year deal.

The signing was first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero late Thursday night.

The five-year pro spent his 2024 season mostly with the Seattle Seahawks, playing 11 games mostly as a kick returner. In his 16 returns on the season, Shenault Jr. averaged 28.7 yards per-return and took a 97-yard kick for a touchdown.

After being waived late in the season, Shenault Jr. was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers, where he only played one game.

Shenault was originally a second-round pick (42nd overall) of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Colorado. In his two seasons in Jacksonville, Shenault Jr. reeled in 121 passes for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns.

Just before the start of the 2022 regular season, Shenault Jr. was traded to the Carolina Panthers, but the move did not translate to further success for either side. Shenault caught a total of 37 passes in Carolina for 332 yards and just one touchdown.

It is likely that Shenault will battle for a roster spot in Buffalo as a kick returner, competing with the likes of Brandon Codrington and Ty Johnson.
