Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills are trading former first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, cornerback Kaiir Elam, and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick and 2026 seventh-round pick.
The former University of Florida product ultimately had his best statistical season during his rookie season in the NFL, putting up two interceptions, four passes defended and 41 tackles in 13 games played and six starts. He also played in both playoff games for Buffalo, reeling in an interception against the Miami Dolphins in the AFC Wild Card Round.
Since then, though, the 23-year-old has struggled to even crack the game day roster over the last two seasons, combining for 16 games played, 40 total tackles, two passes defended and one fumble recovery.
The 2023 season saw Elam play in just three games with two starts, as he dealt with an ankle injury and found difficulties breaking into the lineup. He was able to play in both of the Bills' playoff games, reeling in another interception in the Wild Card Round against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In, what turned out to be, his final season with the Bills in 2024, Elam played in 13 games, and only played in one game in the playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs.
