McDermott excited to see Cooper more involved

Bills head coach Sean McDermott joined the "Extra Point Show" on Friday ahead of his team's Week 8 matchup against the Seahawks

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - The Buffalo Bills continued their winning ways this past Sunday with a win over the Tennessee Titans to improve to 5-2 on the 2024 season and extend their lead in the AFC East.

While the team struggled on both sides of the football to start the contest, the Bills started clicking heading into the second half, and completely dominated the Titans en route to a 34-10 win at Highmark Stadium.

One of the key pieces that helped contribute to Buffalo's success in the second half of last Sunday's win was Bills new wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was acquired from the Cleveland Browns the Tuesday before the game from the Cleveland Browns.

Despite the short week of preparation, Cooper was able to contribute with four catches on five targets for 66 yards, including a touchdown on his first reception in Buffalo off a 12-yard pass from Josh Allen.

As the season continues and as he gets acquainted to his new teammates, it is expected for Cooper to become an even bigger part of this Bills offense.

"He's a pro, and usually when you make it this far in one's career, you're doing something right," said Bills head coach Sean McDermott during his weekly appearance during the "Extra Point Show" on Friday. "That goes back to the process, and the willingness to put in more time. I think that work ethic is part of the reason why he's been in the league and been as successful as he's been over the years. That's going to continue as we move forward here, and anxious and excited to see where that leads us this week and into the future weeks here."

After a nice return to Orchard Park last week, the Bills head back out on the road, and across the country to the Pacific Northwest to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.. For several years, the Seahawks have provided one of the most challenging environments for opposing teammates to play in at Lumen Field.

"It's a tough environment, just like it is here for opponents when they come to Buffalo," McDermott said on WGR with Sal Capaccio. "That's an added part of the challenge as we go out there against a good football team, and a team that's well-coached as well. This will be a challenge for us, one that we're looking forward to."

On the injury front, McDermott has ruled out three players for Sunday's contest, including linebacker Terrel Bernard (ankle), defensive tackle DeWayne Carter (wrist) and wide receiver Curtis Samuel (pectoral).

Shortly after his chat with WGR, McDermott confirmed to the local media Friday that Carter would miss additional weeks due to surgery on his injured wrist.

Kickoff on Sunday is slated for 4:05 p.m. ET, and you can hear all of the play-by-play action on the official voice of the Bills - WGR Sports Radio 550 - with Chris Brown, Eric Wood and Sal on the call.
