Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - For a fifth-straight postseason, the Buffalo Bills pick up a victory in the AFC Wild Card Round, this time with a very convincing 31-7 win over the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium.
In a game where the Bills were favored by 8.5 points, the Bills comfortably held the Broncos in check for the majority of the contest. Outside of the Broncos' opening drive, where quarterback Bo Nix hit wide receiver Troy Franklin for a 43-yard touchdown, the Broncos were essentially stuffed for the remaining 57 minutes of the game.
Josh Allen and the Bills offense successfully scored on key drives, bled out the clock when they had a big lead, and ran the ball tremendously with Ty Johnson and James Cook.
On the other side of the ball, the Bills defense brought some good pressure on Nix, including a massive third down sack in the second half from Greg Rousseau.
Injuries were the only downside to the Bills' dominant performance.
After exiting the game for a brief time following a hit to the head and neck area, nickel cornerback Taron Johnson was, fortunately, able to return to the game.
However, rookie running back Ray Davis was not so fortunate, leaving the game with a head injury after taking a big blow to the head in the third quarter.
Despite the Bills being favored, Bills head coach Sean McDermott still had his team come ready for battle on Sunday, and is of the mindset that no team should be taken lightly this postseason.
McDermott credited the fanbase for being extremely loud, creating a hostile environment for the Broncos throughout the afternoon in Orchard Park.
"Anytime you can win, it's a good win, especially in the playoffs. At home, great environment. Appreciate the fans, they're just incredible," said McDermott following the win during his postgame press conference. "Every week, every time we play here, it was good to see our team come out. We knew it was going to be a battle, and it was."
