Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills are bringing back a key piece to their pass rush for the next two seasons at One Bills Drive.
The team announced on Monday an agreement on a new two-year contract with pass rusher A.J. Epenesa. According to a report from NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the base value of the contract in Year 1 is $7 million, with the potential of rising to $20 million over the two years.
Epenesa was Buffalo's second-round selection (54th overall) in the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Iowa. The 25-year-old has put up 15.5 sacks through his first four years in the league, including two-straight years of 6.5 sacks in 2022 and 2023.
Just this past season, Epenesa put up, arguably, his best campaign to date with 20 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two interceptions.
Epenesa re-joins a defensive ends group in Buffalo that currently sees just Von Miller, Greg Rousseau, Kingsley Jonathan and Kameron Cline under contract for the 2024 season.
