Calgary, Alberta (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres concluded their up-and-down five-game road trip on Sunday night with a 4-1 victory over the Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.
Calgary-born Peyton Krebs opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game. Lukas Rousek left the puck for Krebs to skate through in the neutral zone, and he fired his fourth goal of the season in past goalie Dustin Wolf from the left-wing circle.
At the midway point of the second period, the Flames found the equalizer.
Calgary made the most of its first power play opportunity, as forward Jonathan Huberdeau's shot from the right circle re-directed off Owen Power and leaked through Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen with traffic in front.
In the third period, the Sabres re-claimed their lead thanks to another goal from JJ Peterka. The sophomore winger was left alone in front, and he made it a 2-1 Buffalo edge with less than nine minutes to play.
Peterka's goal was his 24th of the season, tying him with Jeff Skinner for the most on the Sabres.
Tage Thompson and Connor Clifton put the game on ice with empty-net goals with less than a minute left in regulation to seal a 4-1 win for Buffalo.
