Sabres select center Ashton Schultz with 167th pick in 2025 NHL Draft

Schultz is committed to play college hockey at North Dakota next season

Los Angeles, Calif. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 167th overall selection in the sixth round of the 2025 NHL Draft, the Buffalo Sabres take center Ashton Schultz from the Chicago Steel in the United States Hockey League.

One of the older player in the 2025 draft class, the 5-foot-11 and 181-pound center played 57 games for the Steel this past season, scoring 14 goals and adding 25 assists for 39 points. That put him second on the team in assists, and tied for the most points in the team.

Schultz is committed to play his 2025-26 season of hockey as a freshman at the University of North Dakota.

The Sabres have three more picks remaining in the 2025 NHL Draft, all in the seventh round. Their first pick of the round comes 195th overall.
