Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - After parts of six years with the Buffalo Sabres, defenseman Henri Jokiharju is on the move.
The Sabres traded Jokiharju on Friday just ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. The pick was originally property of the Edmonton Oilers.
Jokiharju was a serviceable bottom-four defenseman during his tenure with the Sabres. In 351 career games with Buffalo, Jokiharju scored 19 goals and added 62 assists for 81 points.
The native of Oulu, Finland's best season with the Sabres came during his 2023-24 season, where he scored three goals and added 17 assists for 20 points in 74 games.
The 25-year-old was acquired by Buffalo during the 2019 offseason from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange with for forward Alexander Nylander. Jokiharju was originally a first-round pick (29th overall) of the Blackhawks in the 2017 NHL Draft.
